Staff Accountant | Fresno Mission
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Fresno Mission, located in Fresno, CA. Fresno Mission operates as one of the largest nonprofits in the Central Valley, encompassing five interrelated organizations dedicated to helping people in crisis and life-insecurity. This Staff Accountant position provides vital support to the financial operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and government regulations. The work performed is critical to the overall mission of providing essential services to the community.
The TL;DR

• Team: Supports over 200 employees within the organization.
• Mission: Ensures accounting functions support the overarching mission of helping people in crisis and life-insecurity.
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks (QBO), Excel, other software
What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Create and manage journal entries, providing General Ledger reporting.
• Audits & Taxes: Manage outside audits, property taxes, and corporate taxes.
• Processes: Create and review accounting processes.
• Reconciliations: Manage the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Structures: Manage and update accounting structures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A mature walk with Jesus Christ, including the ability to articulate Biblical beliefs and their application within the context of the Fresno Mission. Employees are Christian missionaries and must possess and maintain a Christian testimony of their faith and experience in Jesus, and be in agreement with the Statement of Faith of the Fresno Mission.
• Experience: Proven ability to work independently, handle sensitive information with integrity, and manage crazy large spreadsheets.
• Skills: Expertise in Excel and QuickBooks Online (QBO). Detail-oriented with a recognition that small numbers matter.
• Bonus: Flexibility to adapt to change, a love for numbers, an understanding that simple is always better but not always easy, and a tendency to pick up pennies in the parking lot.
