Job Description: Accounting Intern
About the Role:
The Accounting Intern at Spot Freight, Inc. plays a very important role in supporting the core operations of the accounting department. The primary function of this position is to assist the billing team in processing transactions. Additionally, interns will contribute to special projects as needed by the accounting management team.
Responsibilities:
The intern’s responsibilities are multifaceted, focusing on both routine processes and opportunities for improvement:
• Learning and Executing Business Processes: The intern will be responsible for understanding and performing established business processes, while also identifying and proposing opportunities for their improvement.
• Independent Planning and Organization: Proactive planning and independent organization of day-to-day activities are expected.
• Billing Process Management: Following established billing processes, including identifying and actively problem-solving any discrepancies that arise.
• Accounts Receivable Management: Preparing and dispatching statement of accounts for customers with past due balances.
• Customer Communication and Issue Resolution: Communicating and collaborating directly with customer accounting contacts to effectively resolve invoicing and payment issues.
• Auditing and Verification: Auditing Bill of Lading information against invoices and receipts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborative Goal Achievement: Working collaboratively within the broader accounting department to contribute towards and meet performance goals.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Accounting Intern position must meet the following academic criteria:
• Must be currently working toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• Candidates pursuing Accounting or Finance majors are preferred.

Pay Information:
The compensation for this internship position is $15 per hour.
