The Tone:
This is a long-term, in-person internship at Simplot Company, located in Boise, Idaho. The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company that operates as a true farm-to-table organization with an integrated portfolio including food processing, food brands, mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching, and cattle production. This role offers valuable opportunities for an intern to work alongside experienced accounting and finance professionals, gaining practical exposure to key controllership functions while contributing to meaningful projects that support the business, developing technical accounting skills, and strengthening analytical capabilities. What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist with a variety of accounting and financial reporting activities, including daily and weekly reporting.
• Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare and process journal entries for financial transactions.
• Analyze financial data and contribute to ad hoc reporting, helping identify trends, discrepancies, or opportunities for process improvement.
• Partner with accounting team members to support ongoing business and financial initiatives, participating in special projects across different areas of accounting and finance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting with junior standing or higher, having successfully completed at least one Intermediate Accounting course.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a willingness to learn new systems and tools.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
