Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience within a professional accounting environment. You will be exposed to a broad spectrum of accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eagerness to learn, exceptional organizational skills, and comfort working with numbers and spreadsheets.
PLEASE NOTE:
- This is a part-time internship, requiring approximately 20 hours per week.
- The position is based in our downtown Chicago office.
- We operate on a hybrid work model, requiring a few half days per week in the office, with the remainder of the work completed remotely.
- We are specifically seeking candidates available to work from May through August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the efficient processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support the accounting team during critical month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Help in the preparation and maintenance of various financial reports, spreadsheets, and journal entries.
- Perform bank and other account reconciliations accurately under direct supervision.
- Aid with essential data entry, comprehensive filing, and systematic document organization.
- Provide support for internal and external audits and budget tracking initiatives as required.
- Conduct research and analytical tasks to bolster the accounting team’s operations and decision-making.
- Help ensure strict compliance with company policies and established accounting standards.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to support the accounting department.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fundamental financial principles is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) is a significant plus.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Pay Transparency Statement:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $18-$20 per hour. At Strongpoint Partners, our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for the posted position applicable to all locations across the US. Individual pay within this range is determined by factors such as geographic location, job-related skills, experience, education, and certifications. Our total compensation package includes base pay plus a comprehensive benefits program.
