Job Description
HelloFresh is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Intern for a rotational program across the accounting department. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to various aspects of accounting within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The intern will primarily focus on month-end close processes, with a structured rotation designed to provide hands-on experience with diverse financial statement line items. Additionally, the role involves higher-level analytical reviews, support for audit procedures, and participation in special projects aimed at automation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Accounting Processes: Support the execution of journal entries and reconciliations within Oracle General Ledger and Blackline reconciliation and task manager. Gain practical exposure to a wide array of financial statement line items, including Revenue, COGS, Fulfillment, Marketing, and G&A, across multiple entities, alongside processing intercompany transactions.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Perform meticulous three-way matching to process vendor invoices for payment and efficiently review vendor inquiries. Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Procurement and Operations to ensure seamless processing and prompt resolution of vendor invoice-related issues.
- Workflow Automation: Proactively identify operational bottlenecks within accounting processes and develop innovative automations to streamline workpaper preparation, with a strong emphasis on maintaining robust key controls. Contribute to AI strategies aimed at improving reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Financial Statement Audit: Assist with critical PBC (Prepared By Client) management and sample testing procedures during the H1 audit, gaining valuable insight into audit processes.
- Analytical Analysis: Provide essential support in the preparation of detailed P&L (Profit & Loss) and Balance Sheet fluctuation analyses, contributing to a deeper understanding of financial performance.
Who You Are
- Current Undergraduate: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related business field. Strong preference for candidates who intend to pursue their CPA certification.
- Tech-Savvy & Analytical: Proficient and comfortable working with various Excel functions and pivot tables, demonstrating a strong analytical aptitude.
- Detail-Oriented: Possesses an exceptional eye for detail, consistently catching errors others might miss and proactively building preventative controls into processes.
- Cross-Functional Communicator: Skilled in effectively translating complex business needs into clear technical requirements and vice versa, fostering seamless collaboration across departments.
- Self-Starter: Demonstrates comfort with the “figure it out” mentality and thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, taking initiative and ownership of tasks.
