This role is for an individual to support the Accounting department, focusing on learning and assisting with various financial and administrative tasks. It emphasizes gaining practical experience in an accounting environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The core responsibilities of this position include:
Shadowing experienced members of the Accounting department to observe and learn their duties.
• Providing assistance with research, data entry, and the accurate recording and maintenance of financial records.
• Working with accounting software to perform assigned tasks.
• Handling sensitive or confidential information with the utmost honesty and integrity.
Compiling various analyses, creating journal entries, and providing support to different company divisions.
• Taking on additional tasks or projects to further develop knowledge of accounting principles and general office operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands of the job involve:
• The ability to perform basic office functions, requiring standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
• Regularly lifting up to 15 pounds, primarily for filing and other record-keeping duties.
• Sufficient vision for imputing data into a computer.
• Possessing keyboarding skills designed to reduce the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome and other office-related injuries.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work environment for this position is an indoor office/home environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Be currently or recently enrolled in college courses related to Accounting.
• Have a basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with protected information.
• Possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow effectively.
• Exhibit intermediate MS Office skills, specifically in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Show a high level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
• Display strong motivation and a desire to take on new challenges and maximize learning opportunities.
• Possess strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Be efficient in both written and verbal communication.
• Be willing to take and pass all mandatory pre-employment testing.
• Be able to maintain a valid driver’s license, along with an e-Rail Safe badge, and meet the company’s Holland Vehicle Fleet Policy.
