This is a fully remote Accounting Intern position with OPCO Skilled Management, offering a valuable opportunity for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in finance and accounting.
Position Details:
• Position Title: Accounting Intern
• Employment Type: 3-month paid internship.
• Location: Fully remote, but candidates must be located in Texas, Indiana, Missouri, or New Mexico.
• Equipment: All necessary equipment for the role will be provided.
• Reporting Structure: The Accounting Intern will report directly to the Accounting Manager.
• Future Opportunity: There is a significant opportunity for full-time hire upon the successful conclusion of the internship, with top candidates being considered for these permanent roles.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Education: A BA/BS degree in Finance and/or Accounting is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, as well as an Accounting database computer system.
• Key Attributes & Soft Skills:
• Must be organized and detail-oriented.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
• Capable of interfacing effectively with all levels of management.
• Possesses good written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must have the ability to multi-task, problem-solve, meet deadlines, and follow through on work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability: The ability to work additional hours and on special projects as needed is required.
General Statement of Functions (Key Responsibilities):
The Accounting Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the accounting department, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
• Financial Statement Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
• Audit Support: Developing audit schedules and updating financial information on a monthly basis to support audit processes.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconciling various bank accounts (operations, sweep, payroll, investment) and other related asset general ledger accounts.
• Journal Entries: Preparing journal entries for the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers by compiling, researching, and analyzing necessary data.
• Balance Maintenance: Maintaining account balances and reconciling differences between various account balances and external sources of comparison.
• Report Development: May assist in developing various reports as required, including financial analysis, fixed asset, depreciation, and other related reports as assigned.
• Other Duties: Performing other accounting-related duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
