Job Description, Detailed

Position: Accounting Intern

This is a 3-month, paid, fully remote internship opportunity. Equipment necessary for the role will be provided. A significant benefit of this internship is the potential for full-time hire upon its successful conclusion, with top candidates being considered for a permanent position.

Reporting To: Accounting Manager

Location: This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be currently located in one of the following states: Texas, Indiana, Missouri, or New Mexico.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: A BA/BS degree in Finance and/or Accounting is preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, as well as an Accounting database computer system.
Organizational Skills: Must be organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.
Communication: Good written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Work Ethic: Must have the ability to multi-task, problem-solve, meet deadlines, and consistently follow through on work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility: The ability to work additional hours and on special projects as needed.

General Statement of Functions (Key Responsibilities):

Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
Audit Schedules: Develop audit schedules and update financial information on a monthly basis.
Account Reconciliations: Reconcile various bank accounts, including operations, sweep, payroll, and investment accounts, along with other related asset general ledger accounts.
Journal Entries: Prepare journal entries for the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers by compiling, researching, and analyzing necessary data updates.
Account Maintenance: Maintain accurate account balances and reconcile differences between various account balances and external sources of comparison.
Report Development: May assist in developing required reports such as financial analysis, fixed asset, depreciation, and other assigned reports.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
