The Tone:
This is an internship at AltaPointe Health Systems, located in Daphne, AL. This role is crucial for supporting the organization’s financial integrity by assisting with the accurate tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of grant funds and managing payable functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Grant Accounting: Compile and review monthly grant reports to support accurate grant tracking, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Grant Accounting: Prepare monthly grant draw packages, ensuring all expenditures are allowable under grant budgets and comply with AHS policies.
• Payable Accounting: Assist with the review and payout of employee reimbursements and manage the entry of vendor invoices for approval and payment.
• Accounting Support: Audit grant documentation files and vendor files to ensure appropriate and complete records.
• Financial Operations: Prepare journal entries and reconcile grant cost centers to the subledger.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Actively enrolled in an accredited university with a declared major in accounting and maintaining good academic standing. Must possess a basic understanding of accounting principles and terminology.
• Experience: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
