Job Description: Part-time Accounting Intern
This part-time internship will provide hands-on experience assisting Pieper Electric’s accounting team. The intern will gain practical skills in various accounting functions, working both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities: The intern will assist with the following tasks:
• Journal entry preparation and entry: Creating and posting journal entries.
• Account reconciliation: Matching and verifying account balances.
• Data entry: Inputting financial data into accounting systems.
• Spreadsheet preparation: Creating and managing spreadsheets using programs like Excel.
• Filing: Maintaining organized physical and/or digital files.
• Miscellaneous office work and special projects: Assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.
• Accounts Payable (A/P): Supporting the processing of vendor invoices and payments.
• Accounts Receivable (A/R): Assisting with the collection of payments from customers.
• Customer and job maintenance: Updating and maintaining customer and job records.
Requirements:
• Current student status pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles (debits & credits, assets, liabilities, income, and expenses).
• Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with AS400 software is a plus.
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a neat and organized manner.
Work Schedule: Part-time hours during the school year, with the possibility of additional hours between semesters. There is potential for full-time employment after graduation.
