Accountant | VetPro Financial Services

The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote role at VetPro Financial Services, with a strong preference for candidates based in northern Colorado, though strong candidates anywhere in Colorado will be considered. We are a small accounting firm dedicated exclusively to providing operationally accurate bookkeeping services for independently owned veterinary practices. This role is crucial for directly supporting practice owners and managers, enabling them to make informed decisions by transforming financial data into actionable insights and freeing them to focus on patient care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monthly Close and Reconciliations: Manage monthly close and reconciliations, accurately recording transactions and maintaining clean general ledgers for clients in QuickBooks Online.
• Reporting and Client Conversations: Prepare monthly financial statements and clearly communicate their meaning and implications to practice owners in plain English.
• Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow: Support or lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning for client growth, hires, and equipment needs.
• Year-End and Tax Support: Facilitate year-end close procedures and compile required financial data for tax preparers.
• Process Improvement: Contribute ideas to enhance and improve internal accounting tools and operational processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Solid general accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting skills, including hands-on accrual-based work.
• Experience: 0-6+ years in bookkeeping or accounting, with proven ability to prepare accurate reconciliations and critically read financial data. Experience ranges from supporting initial client work to independently running month-end close for multiple clients, up to owning a client portfolio and mentoring others.
• Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or a comparable platform) and Excel; clear written and verbal communication with non-finance professionals; and the organizational ability to manage multiple client accounts on a monthly cadence.
• Bonus: Prior experience with healthcare, dental, or veterinary practices, or with multi-client work; a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience; or expertise in Excel and QuickBooks Online.
