This is an early career Accountant position at A. O. Smith Corporation, available in Appleton, WI, US, and Haltom, TX, US. A. O. • Mission: Perform a variety of activities in the preparation, examination, and interpretation of accounting and financial records, reports, and statements, ensuring compliance with all company and GAAP policies.
• Tech Stack: ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, Epicor, NetSuite), Microsoft Excel
What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate accounts payable functions and provide regular expense analysis and reports to plant staff.
• Prepare comprehensive bank reconciliations for all company operating, disbursement, payroll, and investment accounts.
• Generate specific monthly journal entries, sales tax returns, and detailed warranty expense account analyses.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies within general accounting, providing critical analysis of utility use and expenditures to senior management.
• Settle and close production orders, analyze production variances, and conduct internal financial and cycle count audits with subsequent reporting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; this is an early career role.
• Experience: Internship, co-op, or 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred. Exposure to manufacturing or inventory accounting is also preferred.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
• Bonus: Knowledge of SAP systems.
