The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Arkansas Children’s, located in Little Rock, AR, supporting a healthcare organization focused on children’s well-being. This position plays a fundamental role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all financial transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled. The Accountant I ensures the integrity of the ledger accounts and contributes to the essential daily, monthly, and yearly financial closing processes, which are critical for the organization’s financial health and reporting.

• Mission: Maintains financial accuracy by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting closing duties.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Reconciles balance sheet accounts to the general ledger for monthly and year-end processes, including researching and resolving all differences within prescribed timeframes.
• Documentation: Maintains standard operating procedures for account reconciliation, journal entries, and daily duties.
• Journal Entries & Reporting: Posts journal entries, prepares reports and schedules according to department month and year-end closing schedules, and analyzes the impact of journal entries on financial statements.
• Financial Statement Support: Assists in the detailed review, analysis, and preparation of financial statements and related schedules.
• System Testing: Tests system upgrades and enhancements related to job duties.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant financial field.
• Experience: No prior accounting work experience is required.
• Skills: Financial record maintenance, account reconciliation, journal entry posting, general ledger management, financial statement preparation support.
