The Tone:
This is an Accountant I role at Aegis Worldwide, a company operating in a manufacturing environment. This position is vital for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records across all plant operations. The Accountant I will be responsible for preparing, examining, and interpreting accounting and financial data, reports, and statements. This role ensures compliance with all company and GAAP policies, providing critical financial insights that support senior management decisions and contribute to the overall efficiency and financial health of the plant.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and provide analysis of plant expenses to staff, report on utility usage and expenditures to senior management, and analyze warranty expense accounts.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare specific monthly journal entries, generate sales tax returns, and conduct trial balance analysis as part of the general ledger function and month-end closing processes.
• Compliance & Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations for all operating, disbursement, payroll, and investment accounts, ensuring all activities and reports adhere strictly to GAAP, company policy, and federal/state regulations.
• Operational Accounting Support: Coordinate the accounts payable function for all plant operations, review all purchase orders and update the plant manager on exceptions and expense levels, settle and close production orders, investigate production variances, and reconcile all expenses against the budget.
• Internal Control & Backup: Conduct internal financial audits and cycle count audits, issue related reporting, provide research assistance and respond to inquiries, and serve as backup for daily invoicing and sales updating, including providing payroll approval.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, qualifying for an Early Career accounting position.
• Experience: Internship, co-op, or 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred, with a preference for exposure to manufacturing or inventory accounting environments and ERP systems.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
• Bonus: Knowledge of SAP is considered a plus.
