Accountant – General Ledger | Grand Sierra Resort
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Grand Sierra Resort, located in Reno, NV. Grand Sierra Resort is a comprehensive resort and casino offering various services to its guests. This position is crucial for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents, ensuring the integrity and precision of the company’s financial reporting. The role supports the full-cycle month-end closing process and is vital for preparing general ledger journal entries.

• Mission: Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents and ensuring completeness and accuracy of GL statements and related accounting activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare, make, and/or review journal entries for gaming and non-gaming operations within the general ledger system.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports concerning gaming and non-gaming operations.
• Procedural Collaboration: Collaborate with Finance department members and staff from other departments to ensure efficient and effective procedures for financial data maintenance.
• Month-End Assistance: Assist with the preparation of month-end financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations, and audit work papers.
• Information Gathering: Attend and participate in meetings to stay informed of new rules, regulations, and procedures, and to discuss scheduling or other departmental concerns.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with an understanding of the accounting process and technical systems involved.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in casino accounting, or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Skills: Expertise in Excel, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook), and strong attention to detail.
• Bonus: Exposure to General Ledger Accounting is preferred. Flexibility to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and able to maintain an appropriate Gaming License.
