Accountant, Accounts Receivable | Pilot Flying J
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Pilot Flying J, located in Knoxville, TN. Pilot Company is an industry-leading network of travel centers with over 30,000 team members and more than 750 retail and fueling locations across 44 states and six Canadian provinces. Our energy and logistics division also serves as a top fuel supplier, providing critical services with one of the largest tanker fleets. This Accountant role is crucial for classifying, examining, and analyzing accounting records, preparing financial reports for management, and managing moderately complex accounting duties related to accounts receivable.
The TL;DR

• Mission: To ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounts receivable accounting records and provide reliable financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Accounting: Perform general accounting activities, including preparing, maintaining, and reconciling certain ledger accounts related to Accounts Receivable.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile cash, chargeback, and receivable accounts, including researching and following up on outstanding items.
• Transaction Reporting: Prepare, record, analyze, and report accounting transactions, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Journal Entry Approval: Oversee and approve journal entries, verifying accuracy in the general ledger and validating transactions with bank reporting.
• Project Support: Conduct or assist in the documentation of accounting projects and perform special projects as assigned.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior experience applying generally accepted accounting principles and conducting accounting activities, particularly with general ledger reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Skills: Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with a focus on Excel, and an understanding of accounting software.
• Bonus: Experience with customer account databases.
