Cortez – Accountant I | Nevada Gold Mines

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Nevada Gold Mines, located at the Cortez mine site in Nevada. Nevada Gold Mines is a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic mining company that operates the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. This role is crucial for supporting the completion of accounting duties related to the Cortez district, ensuring accurate financial records and cost management. The Accountant I will assist site management in understanding their costs and contribute to a safe work environment.

• Mission: Owns the completion of accounting duties, financial reporting, and cost analysis to support the Cortez district’s financial operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, SAP (preferred), OneStream (preferred), Xeras (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: General journal entries and support month-end close processes, including quarterly financial audits and control testing.
• Review: Costs for completeness and accuracy, performing account reconciliations to evaluate reasonableness of balances and resolve errors.
• Facilitate: The preparation, consolidation, and review of all budget and forecast processes for the Cortez district.
• Track: Capital expenditures for project owners, including budgeting, forecasting, and reviewing financial analysis for requested spend.
• Improve: Identify and implement productivity and process improvements within the accounting function.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; suitable for an early career Accountant I.
• Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of prior related accounting experience, an accounting internship, or demonstrated initiative.
• Skills: Strong technical accounting skills, understanding of accounting concepts, proficiency with Microsoft Office, ability to stay organized and pay close attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA, prior implementation or working experience with SAP, OneStream, or Xeras applications, and exposure to the mining industry in an accounting or analyst function.
