Staff Accountant | Raymond James

As a Staff Accountant, you will be integral to preparing journal entries, reviewing financial statements, and delivering crucial financial analysis for complex business units. • Mission: To prepare journal entries, review financial statements, and prepare other financial analysis reports for complex business units, while analyzing and reconciling all general ledger accounts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Journal entries for monthly financial statements using general ledger accounting software.
• Reconcile: General ledger accounts, prepare analyses, and complete other monthly general ledger closing procedures.
• Resolve: Complex accounting problems and research unusual or irregular transactions.
• Research: Issues regarding the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and respond to internal/external auditor inquiries.
• Recommend: Process improvements to increase efficiency in processing or analyzing financial information.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Experience: 7 to 12 months of general experience, with practical application of advanced accounting concepts.
• Skills:
1. Advanced accounting concepts, practices, and procedures, including GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
2. Proficiency in general ledger accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
3. Skill in reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing financial statements, along with resolving accounting discrepancies.
4. Strong attention to detail for accurate financial analysis and reconciliation.
5. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to explain financial information to all organizational levels.
