Job Description: AARP South Region Internship (Summer 2025)
AARP’s South Region team is seeking a highly motivated rising junior, senior, or graduate student with strong project management, strategic analysis, and events management skills. This paid internship offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s mission of empowering the 50+ community. The internship runs from Summer 2025 to the end of the year.
Responsibilities:
• Support Regional Leadership: Work closely with the Regional Vice President, Business Integration Director, and other team leaders on projects and meetings, implementing new “test and learn” techniques.
• Project Management & Problem Solving: Assist in planning and implementing special projects to address challenges and promote a nationwide culture, acting as a liaison between state offices and National HQ to improve communication. This may include moderating/coordinating virtual/hybrid events/meetings, participating in volunteer engagement, and developing new social media strategies for the South Region.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Contribute to data analyses, write up findings, identify and address red flags, determine best practices, and integrate troubleshooting solutions. Develop executive briefings and reports to effectively share information across the region.
• Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration: Participate in meetings and work groups to gain and share knowledge related to the region’s priorities and communication processes.
Qualifications:
• Enrollment/Recent Graduation: Must be a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student at an accredited college/university (and remain enrolled throughout the internship) or have recently graduated and be enrolled in a continuing education program.
• Commitment to AARP’s Mission: Must align with AARP’s goals and priorities and be a collaborative team player.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams) is required. Familiarity with video creation/editing and various social media platforms is a plus.
• Skills & Abilities: Must be a self-starter, adaptable, able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Remote Work Capability: Ability to work effectively in a virtual/remote environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly rate: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internships are non-exempt positions and do not include employee benefits.
