Job Description

2nd Shift Operations Manager

The Sikorsky Aerostructures Product Center is responsible for the manufacture, procurement and assembly of helicopter airframe structures. We are seeking a 2nd Shift Operations Manager to join our team at our Bridgeport, CT facility.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and management over Major and Sub-assembly Operations on 2nd and 3rd shifts, including oversight of area supervisors and hourly associates.
• Lead and manage Bridgeport 2nd and 3rd shift sub-assembly and assembly manufacture of UH/HH-60M and HH-60W fuselages.
• Oversee area supervisors and all area metrics, including:
• Cost (product and indirect cost)
• Quality (MRB’s, Standard Repairs and Reworks)
• Delivery (schedule performance)
• ESH (Injury prevention and area safety and ergonomic improvements)
• Staffing
• Interface with union stewards as required
• Daily interface with the area hourly workforce
• Frequent interface with the Aerostructure Product Center Leadership team and functional support organizations, such as Material Logistics, Supply Management, Manufacturing Engineering, ESH, Industrial Engineering and Quality.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Direct supervision of area supervisors
• Planning, leading, and managing daily activities associated with Bridgeport Major Assembly Build Units
• Ensuring area performance (schedule, quality, and cost) including participation and follow-up actions from daily/weekly cost and quality meetings
• Managing area workload, individual assignments and staffing
• Coordinating daily with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Management, Material Logistics & Industrial Engineering as needed to support the area of responsibility
• Coordinating with the Continuous Improvement organization on identifying, planning, and implementing area improvement plans
• Participating in daily and weekly site & center production cost and quality meetings
• Communicating with the area workforce on a daily basis

Qualifications:

• B.S. in engineering (mechanical, industrial), operations management or equivalent relevant practical experience
• 8+ years of technical and management experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably helicopter manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels throughout the organization
• Excellent analytical skills

Desired Skills:

• Previous Sikorsky experience
• Previous leadership experience in a union environment
• SAP experience
• Green belt or Black belt certified

Location: Bridgeport, CT
Schedule: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
