2027 Finance Manager (FSLDP) | Amgen

The Tone:
This is a manager-level role in the Finance & Strategy Leadership Development Program (FSLDP) at Amgen. This program is a career opportunity dedicated to sculpting future leaders for the organization within the finance organization through three 12-month rotations. The role is crucial for directly contributing to Amgen’s shared mission of serving patients, by providing essential financial analysis and strategic support that impacts key decisions and operational efficiencies across various finance departments.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Provide financial analysis services and strategic support to sculpt future leaders for the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis Services: Provide comprehensive financial analysis services to specific areas assigned, which may include any department within the broader Finance organization.
• Planning and Review: Prepare detailed long-range plans, annual budgets, strategic assessments, and investment analysis. This also includes developing forecasts and reviewing actual operational results in comparison to those forecasts.
• Strategic Decision Support: Deliver crucial analytical support to senior management concerning key strategic decisions, such as capital budgeting initiatives and various pricing analyses.
• Operational Efficiency and Savings: Actively seek and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiencies and achieving cost savings within the assigned functional area. Present these identified opportunities to leadership and provide assistance in their implementation.
• Performance Benchmarking: Develop and utilize benchmarks to effectively evaluate the prioritization of initiatives, assess relative efficiencies across operations, and manage the overall portfolio within the functional area.
• Policy Interpretation and Application: Educate senior management and staff within functional areas regarding Company financial policies and procedures, and assist them in accurately interpreting and applying these guidelines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other areas and teams within the broader Finance organization as needed to achieve objectives and support company-wide initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in the final year of an MBA program, scheduled to graduate no later than summer 2027.
• Experience: Minimum GPA of 3.0 in current program; three or more years of experience in performing sophisticated financial modeling.
• Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong oral and written communication skills with excellent social skills; ability to interact well with all levels of management; strong leadership ability and a great teammate.
• Bonus: Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health care industry experience.
