2026 Transmission System Planning Intern | Eversource

• Mission: This role supports the analysis and development of electric transmission system models to evaluate performance and ensure system reliability.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Development: Support the creation and ongoing maintenance of transmission system models crucial for future planning studies and analyses.
• Data Integration: Collect, review, and integrate forecasted load data and validate critical system parameters such as equipment ratings, impedances, protection settings, and network topology into system models.
• Impact Studies: Assist in conducting transmission system impact studies across Eversource’s service territories, contributing to study scope development and applying NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE planning standards and regulatory criteria.
• Performance Analysis: Perform steady-state, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) analyses, and research disturbance events to support System Operations and evaluate system performance.
• Automation & Reporting: Contribute to automating study processes using transmission analysis tools and support the documentation of study results, preparing technical reports and presentations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Electric Power Systems, demonstrating foundational knowledge in power systems.
• Experience: Coursework or project experience related to transmission planning, power system analysis, or electrical design is preferred.
• Skills: Basic understanding of power system concepts including modeling, load flow, and symmetrical components; strong written and verbal communication skills; team-oriented with effective interpersonal and organizational skills; eagerness to learn and take initiative in a technical environment.
• Bonus: Exposure to power system analysis tools such as PSSE, ASPEN, PSCAD, or similar software.
