Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

As a Supply Chain Intern, your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, encompassing critical aspects of inventory and distribution management:

  • Maintain Central Distribution Inventory: Ensure the accurate and organized management of products within our main distribution hub.
  • Product Processing & Distribution: Efficiently process, inventory, tag, and distribute products to the correct retail store locations, ensuring timely stock replenishment.
  • Inventory Management & Restocking: Conduct regular inventories and restock products as needed to maintain optimal stock levels across all locations.
  • Order Fulfillment for Supplies: Fill orders for various supplies and equipment, and facilitate their delivery as required to support store operations.
  • Receive & Verify Purchases: Accurately receive incoming purchases, meticulously verifying that the received products match the corresponding purchase orders.
  • Product Pulling & Preparation: Efficiently pull products from inventory for distribution to stores, preparing them for transit.
  • Assist in Problem Resolution: Provide support in researching and resolving various order-related issues, including back orders, incorrect shipments, product substitutions, product recalls, returns, and necessary stock level adjustments.
  • Storage Area Maintenance: Keep storage areas clean, organized, and accessible, adhering to safety and efficiency standards.
  • Package & Mail Handling: Sort, distribute, and process both incoming and outgoing packages and mail, ensuring efficient communication and delivery.
  • Utilize Inventory System: Effectively use our Inventory System for ordering supplies and maintaining precise inventory levels.
  • Other Projects as Assigned: Engage in additional projects that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain department.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or a closely related field.
  • Ability to commit to working a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks during the internship period.

  • Physical Stamina: Capability to frequently lift and carry loads, as detailed in the physical requirements.
  • Independence & Proactiveness: Ability to work effectively without constant supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

  • The primary work environment for this internship is generally an indoor warehouse/office setting.
  • Interns may be requested to work overtime and weekends during the company’s peak in-season time period; expect to work Saturdays as needed.
  • There may be opportunities to drive a company vehicle to other locations on the Outer Banks as needed for product distribution or supply runs.
  • Occasional work on holidays may be requested during busy periods.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves physical activity essential to supply chain operations:

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
