About Company

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy. This support is rendered under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract (J-Tech II). JT4’s primary mission is to develop and maintain realistic, integrated test and training environments to prepare the nation’s war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for current missions and future global challenges.

Job Description, Detailed

This posting is for the 2026 Summer Internship Program at JT4, LLC.

Program Overview:
• A 14-week, paid summer internship designed to provide students with valuable career experience.
• Interns are placed at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
• Participants engage in active projects and explore career opportunities across various highly technical and specialized departments.
• The program fosters lasting relationships with mentors, with many interns returning for multiple summers or continuing part-time during the school year.
• Over 40 past interns have returned to JT4 post-graduation to begin their professional careers.

Typical Projects & Tasking:
Interns will gain important work experience in a variety of projects that typically involve:
Electrical Engineering tasks, often associated with radio frequency, radar, and measurements.
Real Time Programming using languages like C and VxWorks.
Mathematical algorithm development utilizing tools such as MatLab.
Object-oriented programming in C++, C#, and/or Java.

Examples of past projects include:
• Programming Raspberry Pi Boards to replace video capture equipment.
• Creating software to track systems using the NASA earth model.
• Adapting infrastructure to convert serial protocols to faster Ethernet protocols.

Each intern will work under the direct supervision of a JT4 mentor and receive hands-on participation in ongoing projects. Tasking is at an entry level and includes:
• Conducting research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information.
• Staying informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to their engineering specialty.
• Performing fundamental engineering tasks, such as tolerance studies and design calculations, using standard techniques.
• Planning and executing successive engineering steps, resolving technical problems through standard practices.
• Supporting projects of limited scope or specific parts of more complex projects, guided by detailed instructions.
• Studying applicable standards, codes, and procedures in their engineering field.
• Assisting in the preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
• Performing other position-related duties as assigned.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
To be considered, students must meet the following qualifications:
• A minimum of sophomore class standing.
• A declared major in at least one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
• A valid state-issued driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Ability to qualify for and maintain a Top Secret/Single Scope Background Investigation (TS/SSBI), which strictly requires U.S. Citizenship (no dual citizenship).

Selection will be based on:
Academic record and GPA.
• Completed coursework in engineering, computer science, and mathematics.
• For Electrical Engineering positions, coursework in electromagnetics, antenna theory, and communication protocols is highly desirable.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications and other COTS packages.
• Other relevant skills and experience, such as a technical job or hobby.

Salary:
The expected pay range for this position is $28/hour to $30/hour. The final offer considers factors such as responsibilities, candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market conditions.

Working Conditions:
Most positions involve a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Constant sitting with routine use of a computer terminal is expected, along with constant use of sight, speech, and hearing abilities for communication and document review.
