Job Title: 2026 Summer Intern

Location: Flexible (Remote and On-site)

About the Department:

Our team is at the forefront of managing and optimizing enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, including Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, and Business Objects. We empower the organization with self-service analytics and reporting capabilities by providing expert solution consulting, seamless onboarding, and robust technical support for analytics tenants. We are committed to upholding best practices in design, performance, and security across all platforms. Key functions encompass platform lifecycle management, environment upgrades, and strategic rationalization initiatives aimed at reducing technical debt and consolidating tools for enhanced cost efficiency. Furthermore, we actively foster user engagement through vibrant communities of practice, comprehensive training resources, and clear governance frameworks to ensure the consistent and scalable deployment of analytics solutions.

Internship Projects & Key Responsibilities:

As a 2026 Summer Intern, you will be actively involved in high-impact projects, including:

  • Content Aggregation & KPI Tracking: Consolidating content from D&A (Data & Analytics) product stewards to create a robust reporting solution. This includes developing a Power BI custom dashboard to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for technical debt consolidation.
  • Solution Consulting & Support: Providing high-level solution consulting for D&A customers, assisting with “How Do I” type questions primarily focused on Power BI & Tableau.
  • User Guidance & Resource Management: Directing Data Analytics end-users to appropriate training resources and learning articles, and facilitating the submission of service request tickets.
  • Process Design & Documentation: Collaborating closely with the D&A BI reporting team to design and document critical processes such as the triage of Service Now requests, intake of D&A customers, and onboarding of tenants.
  • Community Facilitation: Actively facilitating Communities of Practice for both Tableau and Power BI Developers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • User Engagement & Feedback: Proactively engaging BI platform end-users through surveys, customer calls, and in-depth use case interviews to gather insights and drive improvements.
  • Content Management: Creating, updating, and managing essential content across various platforms including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Confluence.
  • Business Objective Contribution: Contributing to a designated project or initiative that directly supports a key Kaiser Permanente business objective.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university within the last year.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulate solutions.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Target Skillset (Highly Valued):

  • Knowledge of Data & Analytics Products & Concepts, specifically Power BI or Tableau.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with data modeling or data lifecycle knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently given a specific set of deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high-quality work in short periods of time.
