Job Description

2026 Summer Intern – Application Platform Engineering

Location: Flexible (Remote and On-site at 99 S Oakland St, Pasadena, CA, 91101)

Department Details

The Application Platform Engineering department is critical for hosting KP.org and managing all environments that support application development and testing. Key responsibilities include providing:

  • Application load balancing
  • Hosting services
  • Certificate management services
  • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • Edge caching for content delivery

Additionally, the department is responsible for offering comprehensive end-to-end environment support.

Internship Projects

The intern will be directly involved in impactful projects, specifically:

  • Developing dashboards for the utilization of Akamai services.
  • Helping to account for and consolidate all automation under one umbrella to track and modernize processes.

Target Majors

This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in:

  • Computer Science
  • Math/Statistics

Target Skillset

Candidates should possess or be developing the following skills:

  • Exposure to modern scripting.
  • Working knowledge of websites and mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of any tools that support code scanning, security, and compliance.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university within the last year.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulate solutions.
    • Proven ability to build effective working relationships, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • GPA: 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven ability to build effective working relationships, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high-quality work in short periods of time.
