Job Description: 2026 Summer Associate Program
This program offers law students an immersive experience of life as an associate at Fish in their U.S. office locations (excluding Chicago). The program aims to prepare participants to join the firm’s ranks by providing hands-on experience and development opportunities.
Program Experience:
The program offers daily insights into the associate experience, ranging from structured training programs to practical work like drafting memos and participating in strategy discussions over working lunches. It emphasizes skills development through complex client work assignments and dedicated training. A supportive environment is fostered through social events, dedicated mentors, and a relaxed firm culture, encouraging strong relationships among summer associates and attorneys.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities):
• For Patent Prosecution Summer Associates: Draft patent applications.
• For Patent Litigation Summer Associates: Conduct research and draft memos for litigation cases.
• Potentially attend client meetings, depositions, and even trials.
• Engage in social activities, including exploring the office’s city and experiencing local culture with attorneys.
• Attend a firmwide Summer Associate Retreat, which includes training, networking, and social activities.
Who You Are (Qualifications):
• Possess a record of academic and professional excellence in science or technology.
• Demonstrate superior writing ability.
• Exhibit curiosity and motivation to learn how things work.
• Be a law student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school, with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027.
• Show enthusiasm and eagerness to rise to challenges.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Specific Requirement for Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution Positions: A scientific or technical background (degree and/or experience), excellent academic credentials, and superior writing ability are required.
Compensation:
The salary for the 2025 Summer Associate program was $4,327 per week, which serves as an indication for the 2026 program.
