This internship at Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a full-time, individual contributor role within the Engineering field, operating on a First Shift. The primary location for this position is Cartersville, Georgia, USA.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities:

The 2026 Mechanical Engineer Intern will be responsible for completing assigned tasks to assist in the design and development of various mechanical or electrical systems. This can include a wide array of vehicle components and systems such as:
• Vehicle frame, steering, suspension, axles, drivelines
• Seating, roll cages, body panels
• Lighting, electrical harness, and general electrical system design
• Circuit board design
• Microprocessor programming

Key responsibilities and tasks include:
• Working diligently within defined project timelines to ensure tasks are completed according to the project schedule.
Revising, reviewing, and creating functional specifications and engineering design standards.
Developing and designing packaging layouts for various components.
Creating, testing, and analyzing plans for comprehensive product validation.
• Performing tolerance studies on individual components and complete assemblies.
Developing and releasing engineering components, assembly drawings, and the overall vehicle bill of material.
• Incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings to ensure precision and clarity.
Resolving and documenting design issues that are identified during the testing phases.
• Actively participating in cross-functional design reviews and conducting Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments to optimize product design for production efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education: Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another closely related field. This is a required qualification.
GPA: A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Software Knowledge (Preferred): Proficiency in the following software applications is preferred:
• Microsoft Office applications
• CAD software
• Visual Basic or other programming languages
• Matlab
