### Job Description: 2025 Specialty Nurse Intern Program – Adult Emergency Department

The Specialty Nurse Intern Program at the University of Chicago Medicine is a year-round internship designed for nursing students, specifically for the Adult Emergency Department.

1. Role and Responsibilities:
• The Specialty Nurse Intern is a nursing student who provides patient care in specialty areas, specifically matched with the Adult Emergency Department.
• Interns work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
• Key responsibilities include providing care to patients and their families by assuming defined patient care responsibilities and performing specific clinical skills appropriate to the role.

2. Program Structure and Commitment:
Duration: The formal program lasts throughout the entire academic year (year-round internship), with the expectation for interns to continue working throughout the academic year.
Post-Graduation Expectation: Candidates are expected to work at UCM in the identified clinical area (Adult Emergency Department) for 2 years following graduation.
Schedule:
Full-time, Day Shift & Night Shift Available.
