New York City Transit
About Company
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is North America’s largest transportation network, serving 15.3 million people across a 5,000-square-mile region encompassing New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York, and Connecticut. Comprising six agencies, the MTA provides approximately 2.6 billion annual trips, operating the nation’s largest bus fleet and more subway and commuter rail cars than all other U.S. transit systems combined. This vital network, which includes the nation’s leading bridge and tunnel authority, handles roughly one-third of the nation’s mass transit users and two-thirds of its commuter rail passengers, forming the lifeblood of the New York City area through its provision of safe, clean, and efficient public transportation.
