Minnkota Power Cooperative

Minnkota Power Cooperative, established in 1940 and headquartered in Grand Forks, N.D., is a not-for-profit electric generation and transmission cooperative. Our core mission is to provide safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible wholesale electric energy. We proudly serve 11 member-owner distribution cooperatives across a 34,500 square-mile region spanning eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, ultimately powering nearly 150,000 consumer accounts, including homes, farms, schools, and businesses.

Our dedicated team ensures the delivery of this vital energy through a robust infrastructure of over 3,400 miles of transmission lines and 260 substations. Our diverse generation portfolio includes lignite coal from the Milton R. Young Station, supplemented by purchased wind energy and hydroelectricity.
