Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS)

The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is dedicated to upholding the right to counsel for indigent persons in Massachusetts. We provide comprehensive legal representation in a wide array of criminal, civil, and administrative matters, ensuring access to justice for individuals unable to afford an attorney. Our mission is to safeguard fundamental rights by delivering high-quality legal services in cases spanning criminal defense, child welfare, mental health, and more, whenever the law requires appointed counsel.

Our dedicated team comprises approximately 500 staff attorneys and 3,000 private attorneys, all trained and certified to provide expert representation. CPCS fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, guided by specialized divisions that offer supervision, training, and litigation support, including crucial assistance from our Immigration Impact Unit.
