Internal Audit Intern Job Description

This is a year-round internship opportunity within NuScale’s Internal Audit group, designed to provide practical experience in a growing organization.

Work Schedule:
The position is part-time while classes are in session and transitions to full-time during the summer (up to 3 months).

Compensation:
• Interns currently completing an undergraduate degree will receive an hourly wage of $25.00 per hour.
• Interns currently enrolled in a graduate program will receive an hourly wage of $30.00 per hour.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited, 4-year undergraduate degree program at a Junior or Senior standing, or actively pursuing an advanced degree.
Academic Field: Must be pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or a related field.
Work Authorization: Due to government authorization compliance (10 CFR Part 810 rules), consideration is limited to students currently eligible to work in the United States. NuScale is unable to consider students authorized to work on F-1 or M-1 Visas.

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will collaborate with NuScale internal auditors on a range of tasks. Focus areas may include SOX compliance and operational audits, requiring the candidate to have a basic familiarity with these concepts. Work assignments will be flexible, based on both business needs and the intern’s interest. This role requires a self-motivated individual who is skilled at working and learning effectively through remote platforms (video, phone, email).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Learning and gaining experience in performing internal audits at a growing organization. This may involve using tools such as AuditBoard and Microsoft Office applications.
• Learning and gaining experience in the entire life cycle of performing audits and effectively concluding on results to cross-functional management teams.
• Performing other duties as assigned to support the Internal Audit group.

Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 is preferred.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities:
Education/Certification: Current enrollment in a 4-year accredited undergraduate program (Junior or Senior standing) or a graduate program in accounting, finance, information systems, or a related field.
Experience:
• Must have a solid understanding of accounting concepts, principles, and theories.
• Required to demonstrate a strong aptitude in technical writing.
• Possess good communication, computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Possess exceptional organization skills and an ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.
Industry Requirements: Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers. The employee must be able to learn new job functions and comprehend new concepts quickly. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, using hands for office equipment, and reaching with hands and arms are required. The position also requires the ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation.
