The hospital has over 600 team members and provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, including a 24-hour emergency department, advanced diagnostics, and both specialty and primary care.
Job Description
ECU Health is actively seeking experienced nurses to join its Travel Staffing team at ECU Health North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. These are 13-week assignments with potential for extension. Opportunities are available for both unit-specific placements and float pool roles across several inpatient units, including Medical Step Down, Med/Surg, Emergency Room, ICU, Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Operative Services, Women’s & Children’s, and Progressive Care (PCU).
Position Summary
The nurse is responsible for providing care in adherence to the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and other established professional and regulatory standards. Nursing care will be delivered according to ECU Health and entity-specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards of care/practice.
Key responsibilities include:
• Provision and coordination of nursing care.
• Collection and analysis of assessment data.
• Identification of expected outcomes.
• Development of a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Identification and implementation of interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
• Evaluation of the patient/family’s progress towards outcomes attainment.
• Comprehensive documentation of the care process.
• Delivering care with sensitivity to the age-specific and unique needs of the patient/family.
• Promoting and evaluating the effective functioning of the health care team.
• Collaborating with health care team members to meet identified patient/family needs throughout the episode of care.
• Delegating tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing, or higher (Bachelor Degree is preferred).
• Experience: Greater than 1 year of nursing experience is required.
• Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification is required. ACLS is required for intensive or progressive care units.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty-four (24) hour needs of the patients.
• Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
• Maintains stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
• Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.
Compensation Package
• Base Pay: Up to $70 per hour for all travel nursing positions.
• Overtime/Holiday Pay: 1.5x base hourly rate for overtime (over 40 hours) and holiday pay.
• Stand-by Pay: Additional $3.00 per hour.
• Charge/Preceptor Pay: Additional $2.00 per hour.
Additional Position Details for Travel Staffing Team
• Assignment Duration: 13-week assignments with the option to extend at the discretion of the manager.
• Float Requirement: Travel team members are expected to float to other areas as needed.
• Shift Rotation: Expected to rotate shifts to meet department needs as determined by the Manager (may include 11 a.m.-11 p.m., 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 3 p.m.-3 a.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m., and/or other shifts as determined by organizational needs).
• Compliance: Adherence to required attendance of unit staff meetings, completion of e-inform modules, and completion of required organizational continuing education.
• Scheduling: Utilize the scheduling system to manage their schedule, including non-duty/time-off requests.
• Eligibility: Not be currently employed by ECU Health or separated for 92 days, having left in good standing.
• Policy Application: Organizational policies will be applicable to internal travel team members, notwithstanding Internal Travel Staffing Program specifications included within each assignment acknowledgement.
• Benefits Not Included: Travel Staffing positions are NOT eligible for health benefits, shifts or weekend differentials, incentive pay, PTO, or float pool differentials.
