About the Job

This is an Internship position with a commitment of a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week. The salary for this role is $20.00/hr. and the position is located in Broomfield, CO, at the Lignetics Advanced Development Center.

As part of the Product Development/Innovation team, this role focuses on exploring new technologies and new markets for sustainable, renewable raw materials, particularly wood residuals (such as sawdust and shavings from lumber, furniture, and floor making industries). The work is highly cross-functional and contributes to a portfolio of new business opportunities. A significant emphasis is placed on consumer products, involving direct engagement with branding, consumer research, and market analysis. Beyond this, the intern will be involved in prototyping, business model creation, and vendor/partner coordination.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Conduct product tests, including performance and Quality Assurance (QA)-related assessments.
• Develop new test methods under guidance from senior team members.
• Analyze collected data and effectively communicate the results.
• Prepare prototype formulations for new products.
• Conduct online research to identify potential material and/or vendor options.
• Provide support for consumer testing programs and assist with the analysis of gathered data.

Education, Skills And Physical Requirements

• Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physical Science, or a related field.
• Previous internship or part-time experience relevant to the declared major is considered a plus.
• Must possess a proactive “roll up your sleeves” approach, demonstrating high analytical capability and forward-thinking.
• Requires the ability to perform both simple and complex math calculations.
• Capable of conducting experiments utilizing solid scientific method skills.
• Proficient in analyzing and communicating data and results clearly and effectively.
• Interest or experience in non-technical product development areas such as marketing and branding is an additional plus.
