Job Description

Job Title: Content Writing Intern

Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship

Compensation: This position pays $16.50 per hour.

Overview: The editors of Open Road Integrated Media’s (ORIM) content sites are seeking a full-time, paid Content Writing Intern. This intern will work across ORIM’s diverse network of content sites, including:
• The Portalist
• The Lineup
• A Love So True
• The Archive
• Murder & Mayhem
• Early Bird Books

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Researching story ideas for the various websites.
Writing pitches for website content.
Writing stories specifically for the websites.
• Conducting search engine optimization (SEO) research.
Sourcing photos to accompany content.

• Receiving bylines for published work.
• Learning about working within a content management system (CMS).
• Understanding and applying best practices for SEO.
• Honing editorial judgment.
• Developing skills in writing for a variety of audiences.

Work Schedule & Environment:
Availability: The intern must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the fall semester.
Work Model: This is a hybrid position. The intern must be able to work on-site in the Manhattan office two days per week, with the remaining three days working remotely.

Requirements:
• Must be available 40 hours per week for the fall semester.
• Must be able to work effectively in a hybrid environment (two days on-site, three days remote).
• Must be an organized, detail-oriented self-starter.
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of working independently as well as on a team.
Previous experience in editing, writing, and/or digital media is a plus.
