This is an internship role offering a significant opportunity to be involved in the care of patients receiving Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment. The intern will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including the clinic Medical Director, Program Director, Treatment Service Coordinator, Counselors, and Nursing staff, to ensure the overall safety and wellbeing of patients.
Key responsibilities for this role may include:
• Observing patient progress during individual and group counseling sessions.
• Engaging in direct patient contact, which involves patient assessments.
• Identifying and addressing any clinical or case management needs of patients.
• Assisting with both individual and group counseling sessions when required.
• Reporting instances of abuse, maltreatment, and patient grievances as necessary.
• Participating in the orientation process for new patients by learning about all services offered.
• Educating patients on various aspects of their treatment, related health issues, and steps towards recovery.
• Ensuring thorough reading and understanding of the Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Maintaining strict compliance with regulatory frameworks such as 42 CFR Part 2 and 45 CFR HIPAA, as well as Local, State, Federal, and Colonial Management Group, LP (CMGLP) rules, regulations, and policies.
• Acting consistently in the best interest of the program and company, honoring, supporting, and protecting the proprietary rights of the company.
• Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential qualifications for this internship include:
• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program that offers course credit for internships.
• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree within a specific program and/or meeting state requirements.
• Preferably having completed introductory coursework in substance abuse theories and practices.
• The ability to clear a security background check and a commitment to following company policies and procedures.
• Adherence to all ethical and professional standards, as well as CMGLP policy and procedures.
• Meeting regularly with their Internship Supervisor as mandated by their academic program.
