Job Description

Job Title: Hospitality Internship Program

Company & Location: This is an internship opportunity with Aramark at High Point University in High Point, NC.

Application Deadline: Applications for this program must be received no later than Monday, August 4, 2025.

Program Overview:
The Hospitality Internship Program offers hands-on learning in various hospitality disciplines within Harvest Table and the Jana and Ken Kahn Hotel. It is specifically designed for High Point University (HPU) Hospitality students to gain real-life work experience, combining it with their academic studies to better prepare them for a career in the hospitality industry.

Program Focus Areas & Rotations:
Selected interns have the flexibility to:
Rotate through various disciplines, which may include:
Hotel Front Office & Housekeeping
Food & Beverage
Culinary
Special Events
Administrative Functions: such as Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations Management.
• Alternatively, interns can opt to focus on one or two specific disciplines based on their career areas of interest.

Training & Development Opportunities:
In addition to department-specific work experience, interns can expect to receive valuable training and development, including:
Tips certification
SERV Safe certification
Attendance at property meetings
Participation in special projects

Program Requirements (Hours & Scheduling):
• Accepted interns will be required to complete a total of 160 hours.
• This total is divided into 80 hours with the Kahn Hotel and 80 hours with Harvest Table.
• Aramark management will work with the selected interns to schedule the required work hours over one or more semesters, providing flexibility.

Application & Hiring Process:
Candidates for the internship will be required to:
• Complete the Aramark application through their Career site.
• Undergo an interview process.
• Agree to and successfully complete a satisfactory background check.
• Complete necessary new hire paperwork.
• Attend an orientation session.

Compensation:
Interns will earn an entry-level wage for all hours worked during the program.

Job Responsibilities:
Interns are expected to perform the following duties:
Adhere to all Aramark and location-specific policies and procedures.
Follow all property safety protocols.
• Maintain weekly communication with their field supervisor regarding their work schedule.
Report to work on time, as scheduled, and in proper uniform.
Perform job duties as assigned by their department supervisor.
Maintain professional relationships with both guests and co-workers.
Provide pro-active and responsive guest service.
• Be comfortable asking and directing questions to department, property, or field supervisors.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Must be a High Point University Hospitality Student and be approved and in good standing in accordance with HPU Hospitality guidelines.
• Possess a basic understanding of hospitality services.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills and a cheerful outlook.
• Exhibit adaptability and a willingness to learn in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
• Be comfortable communicating to guests and co-workers.
