About the Job

This is an Internship position, requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week, with a salary of $20.00 per hour. The role is based in Broomfield, CO, at the Lignetics Advanced Development Center.

As an integral part of the Product Development/Innovation team, the intern will be involved in exploring new technologies and new markets that leverage sustainable, renewable raw materials, specifically wood residuals like sawdust and shavings from lumber, furniture, and floor making industries. The work is highly cross-functional and contributes to a portfolio of new business opportunities for the company. A significant focus of this role will be on consumer products, involving active participation in branding, consumer research, and market analysis. Additionally, the intern will be involved in prototyping, business model creation, and vendor/partner coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducting product tests, including performance and QA-related assessments.
• Developing new test methods under guidance.
• Analyzing data and effectively sharing results.
• Preparing prototype formulations.
• Conducting online research to identify material and/or vendor options.
• Supporting consumer testing programs and associated data analysis.

Education, Skills, and Physical Requirements:

• Candidates must be actively working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physical Science, or a related field.
Previous internship or part-time experience relevant to the major is considered a plus.
• Must possess a “roll up your sleeves” approach, demonstrating a highly analytical and forward-thinking mindset.
• Requires the ability to perform simple to complex math calculations.
• Able to conduct experiments utilizing solid scientific method skills.
• Capable of analyzing and effectively communicating data and results.
• Interest or experience in non-technical product development (such as marketing and branding) is an additional plus.
