This is a full-time position for a Clinical Psychologist within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health. The role carries an academic appointment (initially as junior faculty, but higher appointments are possible for qualified candidates).
Primary Responsibilities & Focus Areas:
• Providing expert treatment of child and adolescent disorders.
• Main responsibility for treating young children with anxiety disorders and behavioral problems.
• Treating youth across all ages with organizational and executive function problems.
• Emphasis on delivering empirically-supported assessment and treatment in programs developed at the Child Study Center.
• Focus on disorders within the Anxiety and ADHD spectrums, specifically:
• Selective Mutism.
• Organizational Skills and Executive Function Deficits in varied disorders.
Required Skills & Proficiencies:
• Proficiency in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
• Proficiency in parent management training (PMT).
• Proficiency in diagnostic evaluation.
• Experience assessing and treating youth with Selective Mutism.
• Experience providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
• Experience serving children with ADHD and related disorders.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Proficiency in conducting individual and group therapy (both usual and intensive formats).
• School consultation experience.
• Family work experience.
• Experience in providing supervision.
Work Schedule:
• The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry supports a hybrid work arrangement.
• The position includes dedicated onsite space at the Manhattan office.
• A structured onsite/remote schedule will be determined by clinical needs and space availability.
• The role requires offering evening hours as needed to ensure access to care.
• Fulfilling on-call and coverage responsibilities is also required.
Detailed Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
• Conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations and providing timely written documentation.
• Delivering evidence-based treatments to children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
• Maintaining timely and accurate completion of medical records.
• Providing teaching and supervision to residents, medical students, psychology, and other trainees as assigned by the Clinical Director of the Child Study Center.
• Participating in multidisciplinary case reviews and contributing to individualized treatment planning.
• Participating in continuing education, including weekly Case Conferences and Grand Rounds.
• Participating in 2-3 direct activities annually that support the department’s mission to disseminate evidence-based information (e.g., Child Study Center parent workshops, writing for the website, speaking on Doctor Radio).
• Participating in research activities when appropriate.
• Adhering to the code of ethics of the professional organization and the medical center.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution.
• Completion of an APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship.
• Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York.
• Eventually able to provide virtual treatment in other states after obtaining appropriate certifications.
Salary:
• Dependent on Experience and Qualifications.
• The annual salary range for a full-time junior faculty role is $114,420 to $116,792.
• Candidates who qualify for higher faculty appointments are encouraged to apply, with actual salaries depending on factors such as faculty appointment, credentials, research history, specialty, and health system need.
• The listed salary range does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
• Psychologists are typically eligible for supplemental compensation ranging from $31,300 to $80,000 in the first year of practice.
