About the Job: 2026 Commercial Banking Summer Internship – Early Careers at Wells Fargo
This role is an internship opportunity with Wells Fargo, specifically within their Commercial Banking division, designed for undergraduate students.
Program Overview:
The Commercial Banking Summer Internship is a structured, 10-week program aimed at providing undergraduate students with a foundational understanding of Commercial Banking and potential career paths within the field through hands-on experience. Interns will be placed with an experienced team within one of Wells Fargo’s Commercial Banking businesses, gaining exposure to the company’s operations, business strategies, and culture.
Program Focus and Development:
The internship emphasizes intern development, preparing them for future career steps. Participants will gain insight into Wells Fargo’s corporate and credit culture, receive professional development and skill acquisition opportunities, engage in community involvement, networking, and receive analytical training specific to the line of business.
Key developmental components include:
• Induction Week: A week-long onboarding and training session that includes networking opportunities with peers and leaders across Wells Fargo.
• On-the-job experience: Interns will actively participate in their team’s day-to-day activities, building analytical skills and a basic understanding of key processes within a high-performing team.
• Professional support: Interns will be partnered with high-performing employees who serve as resources, coaches, and provide feedback throughout the summer.
• Virtual speaker series: Top Wells Fargo leaders will share insights on maximizing the summer experience and discuss trends in the financial services industry.
• Organized networking activities: Opportunities for community involvement and networking with peers and employees across the company.
In This Role You Will:
• Participate in formal internship program activities, workshops, and various initiatives.
• Complete assignments to become familiar with policies and procedures for low-to-medium complex tasks.
• Conduct research and financial analysis to assess client needs and identify optimal Wells Fargo products and services.
• Collaborate with relationship managers, product specialists, and credit underwriters to support real-time business efforts and drive client outcomes.
• Receive direction from a manager while developing knowledge of compliance and risk management requirements, exercising independent judgment.
• Prioritize work, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
Program Duration:
The internship runs for 10 weeks, from June to August 2026 (exact dates are TBD and subject to change).
Placement:
Offers are extended for specific office locations based on candidate preference and business needs. Interns will be notified of their specific Commercial Banking business placement prior to the program start.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Required Qualifications, US:
• 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Energetic self-starter who proactively takes initiative, remains curious, and has a genuine interest in learning and growth.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, valuing flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability.
Desired Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date between December 2026 or May/June 2027. All majors are welcome.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities (volunteerism, student organizations, study abroad, leadership positions, non-profit involvement).
• Proven ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a collaborative, change-driven atmosphere.
• Demonstrated knowledge, interest, and/or experience in finance, accounting, and sales.

The pay range varies by location:
• Atlanta, GA: $36.06/hr
• Boston, MA: $43.27/hr
• Charlotte, NC: $36.06/hr
• Chicago, IL: $39.90/hr
• Dallas, TX: $36.06/hr
• Minneapolis, MN: $36.06/hr
• Phoenix, AZ: $36.06/hr
The broader advertised pay range for this position is $18.00 – $65.00, with specific intern pay rates provided above. Pay may vary based on factors such as achievements, skills, experience, or work location.
