### Job Description

This specific position is a SkillBridge Internship for transitioning service members participating in the DOD SkillBridge Program. It is an unpaid internship, indicated by Salary: N/A SkillBridge Internship.

Position Overview:
Center of Excellence (CoE): The primary focus for this position is the Government Consulting Services CoE. Matrix also has opportunities in Civil Services, Construction Management, Environmental Services, GIS, Landscape Architecture, Planning Services, Structural/Transportation, and Water Resources/Ecological Services.
Location: Preferred locations are Colorado Springs, CO; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; or San Antonio, TX. However, the company is open to considering other remote locations.
Summary: The role involves providing consulting support to the Government Consulting Services CoE. This support is typically related directly or indirectly to the Department of Defense (DOD) or state/local government(s). Key tasks include developing study methodologies, data collection and analyses, researching, and writing unique reports. It is ideal for a professional passionate about public service, process improvement, and project management.

Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities):
Research and Reporting: Research assigned areas/issues and write formal and informal reports of various lengths, focusing on summarizing information or persuading readers to support objectives.
Process Improvement: Support continuous process improvement (CPI) and business process reengineering (BPR) projects through process mapping; data collection, analysis, & visualization; and development of digital solutions.
Project Execution Support: Prepare reports, develop technical documents and presentations, and contribute to other’s project deliverables.
Facilitation: Plan, organize, and lead facilitation of virtual and in-person engagements with project stakeholders for visioning, brainstorming, and problem-solving.
Client Relations: Meet with clients and their representatives (individually or as part of a team) to present results, resolve issues, answer questions, and maintain good relations.
Project Management/Assistance: Tasks may include budgeting, scheduling, organizing teams, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, quality assurance, and invoicing.
Proposal Development: Support proposal development by providing content for sections like approach or schedule, as assigned according to the request for proposal/qualifications.

Competencies (Required Skills and Knowledge):
DOD Familiarity: Familiarity with the organization and structure of the U.S. Department of Defense, with a more detailed working knowledge of one or more military services.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to gather input from stakeholders involved in all project aspects to incorporate their perspective and specialized knowledge.
Information Management: Ability to collect and organize information from various sources (computer databases, scanned documents, surveys, customer feedback).
Analytical Skills: Ability to use statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other quantitative methods to analyze information and develop practical solutions.
Communication: Ability to write memos, reports, and develop presentations explaining findings and recommendations for managers, executives, and other project stakeholders. Possess outstanding communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
Technical Proficiency: Well-versed in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.
Travel: Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and other facility offices.
Preferred Skills: Working knowledge of data visualization and automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, and others) is preferred.

Education and Experience (Qualifications):
Education: An undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, operations research, data science, or a related field of study.
Experience: A minimum of four years of work-related experience, preferably in areas such as engineering, public works, installation management, construction management, logistics, or base operating support.
Other: A valid driver’s license is required, along with successfully passing the Company’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screening.

Physical Demands:
The role involves regular sitting, using hands to finger/handle/feel, reaching, and talking/hearing. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
