• Department: UHC: Psychiatry – 2nd Level Providers
• Job Title: Intern-Clinical Psych
• Job Summary: This role involves working under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist. The intern provides assistance to patients and their families, specifically in the areas of counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological evaluations. The intern is also expected to perform other duties as needed.
• Education and Experience Requirements:
• Education: A Master’s Degree in clinical psychology is required.
• Experience: No prior experience is required for this position.
• Knowledge and Skills: The successful candidate must possess a wide range of abilities, including:
• Core Abilities: Ability to read, write legibly, and speak in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality. Proficiency in using computers and necessary software programs is required, along with the ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
• Interpersonal & Professional Skills: Must be able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others. This includes being assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies, working calmly and courteously under pressure, and demonstrating leadership, supervision, teaching, and collaboration skills. The ability to accept direction is also key.
• Cognitive & Organizational Skills: Must communicate effectively in English (in person, writing, and on the telephone), think critically, work independently with minimal supervision, and perform basic math functions. The role requires managing multiple assignments effectively, working well under pressure, problem-solving, organizing and prioritizing workload, recalling information accurately, and paying close attention to detail.
• Physical Demands (Sensory): The ability to distinguish colors and smells (as necessary for patient care), hear sufficiently for general conversation (in person and on the telephone), identify and distinguish various workplace/patient care sounds, see adequately (to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents), and discern temperature variances through touch is also required.
• Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
