About the Job Description
This is an unpaid FALL INTERNSHIP 2025 opportunity for a Fashion Design and Production role at Bibhu Mohapatra. The position is scheduled for immediate hire, offering both full-time and part-time roles (2-5 days per week). This internship provides hands-on experience in a New York City Atelier. Academic credit is offered for this unpaid internship, which requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours weekly (at least 2 days a week).
Responsibilities include:
• Source fabrics and trims.
• Assist with pattern making.
• Assist with fabric cutting.
• Making embroidery layouts.
• Help issue fabrics, embroideries, prints, and style tech packs to mills and factories.
• Support the design team pre and post NYFW.
• Manage pickups and drop-offs.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• A background in fashion design, technical design, or production.
• PATTERN MAKING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS are essential.
• GARMENT CONSTRUCTION KNOWLEDGE is required.
• A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Must commit to at least 2 days a week.
• Previous experience working at a fashion brand is necessary.
• Knowledge of fabrics.
• Demonstrated efficiency, organization, and strong communication skills.
