Pay Range:
• $18.00 per hour

Summary of the Role:
The Summer Research Fellowships are offered on a competitive basis to students enrolled at Rush University. This program is specifically for students between their first and second years of medical school. Selected students receive a paid, full-time position during the summer to work on research projects with Rush faculty. These projects can span basic science, clinical research, and community service arenas. The role requires the individual to exemplify the Rush mission, vision, and values, and to adhere to all Rush policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
The Summer Research Fellow will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to their approved research study, which is overseen by a principal investigator:
• Being responsible for their assigned research study.
• Conducting all data collection and accurately recording it for their study.
• Maintaining comprehensive research records and documents pertinent to their study.
• Potentially assisting the principal investigator(s) with patient recruitment for studies, which may include creating study advertisements and marketing materials in compliance with Rush policies.
• Ensuring strict compliance with protocol guidelines and the requirements of relevant regulatory agencies.
• Potentially conferring with study participants to explain the purpose and procedures of the study.
• Completing and maintaining all necessary documentation and reporting of adverse events, and recommending corrective action when appropriate.
• Preparing and delivering oral or written reports to both the study sponsor and the program faculty director.
• Potentially assisting the principal investigator with Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) filings and compliance.
• Coordinating the development of forms and questionnaires for the application of research techniques.
• Performing other related duties incidental to the work described.
• Performing any other duties necessary to advance the research.
Required Qualifications / Other Information:
• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required.
• Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled as a student at Rush Medical College.
• Academic Standing: Must be in good academic standing, as reported by the Office of Integrated Medical Education.
• Skills (Preferred/Required):
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, set goals, manage complicated tasks, and work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated professionalism when handling confidential information.
• Other Requirements:
• Must complete all HR hiring requirements in a timely manner.
• Must complete a physical examination.
