About the Job: IT Intern

The Opportunity
ASM Global Knoxville is looking for a highly motivated and tech-savvy student to join their team as an IT Intern. This internship is designed for students seeking to gain practical, hands-on experience within a fast-paced IT environment. The role offers a unique chance to delve into various facets of event technology, network administration, user support, and the specific IT requirements of a large-scale convention center. Interns will work closely with seasoned IT professionals, contributing to real-world projects and providing essential support for daily operations. The position is structured to last for up to 4 months.

Key Responsibilities
As an IT Intern, you will be involved in a variety of tasks supporting the IT department, which include:
Technical Support: Providing first-level technical assistance to staff and guests, addressing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Hardware & Software Maintenance: Assisting with the setup, configuration, ongoing maintenance, and accurate inventory tracking of IT assets such as computers, printers, and audiovisual equipment.
Network Assistance: Supporting network operations, which encompasses monitoring network performance, aiding in cable management, and troubleshooting connectivity problems.
Event Technology Support: Helping with the deployment and ongoing support of IT solutions tailored for various events, including Wi-Fi setup, presentation equipment management, and digital signage operations.
Documentation: Contributing to the creation and regular updating of IT documentation, such as user guides, troubleshooting procedures, and inventory records.
System Administration Support: Offering basic support for different operating systems (including Windows and macOS) and common applications (like Microsoft Office Suite, as well as specialized event software).
Special Projects: Participating in and providing support for various IT projects as assigned, offering exposure to new technologies and initiatives.

Qualifications
To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in information technology and a genuine desire to learn about various IT disciplines.
• Possess a basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
• Be familiar with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a customer service-oriented approach.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, and comfortable working in diverse physical environments (e.g., server rooms, event floors).

Bonus Points (Not Required, But a Plus!)
• Prior experience with ticketing systems or IT service management tools.
• Basic understanding of AV equipment and technologies.
• Previous experience in a customer service or event-related role.
