Job Description – Summer Associate
• Job Title: Summer Associate
• Department: Litigation Department
• Location: Washington, DC office
• Program Year: Seeking to hire a 2026 Summer Associate.
• Position Type: Hybrid position with an expectation of four days in the office.
Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:
Summer Associates at Nixon Peabody provide essential legal support, including:
• Legal Research
• Legal Writing
• Discovery Support
• Other substantive support for attorneys.
In the Washington, DC office, Summer Associates will gain exposure to a wide variety of assignments across the Litigation Department, encompassing practices such as:
• Complex Disputes
• Labor & Employment
• Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense
• Real Estate and Construction
• Privacy and Technology
Mentorship and Development:
The program emphasizes professional growth through:
• Receiving substantive feedback on assignments.
• Mentoring on assignments.
• Access to various training programs offered throughout the duration of the summer program.
Anticipated Salary:
• The anticipated salary for this position in Washington, DC is $4,134.00 per week. This figure represents Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate at the time of the posting, in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws.
Candidate Qualifications:
Qualified candidates for this role will be:
• Rising second-year law students.
• Individuals with a demonstrated interest and/or experience in litigation.
• Possessing strong academic credentials (a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher).
• Demonstrating superb judgment and communication skills.
• Exhibiting excellent legal writing skills.
• Committed to teamwork and excellent client service.
