This is for the 2026 Summer Associate Program, accepting applications for U.S. office locations, excluding Chicago. The program is designed to provide an authentic experience of life as an associate at Fish, offering insights into various aspects of the role, from training to client interactions.
• Program Overview:
• The program aims to prepare participants to join the firm’s ranks.
• It encourages skills development through complex client work assignments and training.
• Features social events, dedicated mentors, and a relaxed firm culture to foster relationships.
• What You Will Do (Responsibilities):
• For patent prosecution summer associates: Draft patent applications.
• For patent litigation summer associates: Conduct research and draft memos for litigation cases.
• May have opportunities to attend client meetings, depositions, and even trials.
• Explore the local city and experience its culture with attorneys acting as guides.
• Attend a firmwide Summer Associate Retreat, which includes training, networking, and social activities.
• Who You Are (Requirements):
• A passion for science, engineering, and intellectual property is encouraged.
• Must demonstrate a record of academic and professional excellence in science or technology.
• Possess superior writing ability.
• Be curious and motivated to learn how things work.
• Must be in good standing as a law student at an ABA accredited law school.
• Anticipated graduation date must be spring 2027.
• Show enthusiasm and eagerness to rise to challenges.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Specific Requirements for Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution Summer Positions: A scientific or technical background (degree and/or experience), excellent academic credentials, and superior writing ability are required.
• Compensation:
• The 2025 Summer Associate Salary is $4,327 per week.
