Loenbro Internship – Project Engineer

This is a PAID internship position focused on Project Engineering within Loenbro’s Industrial Services team, offering valuable experience in the industrial construction sector. The Project Engineer Intern will support project execution, ensuring smooth operations and prompt issue resolution. The position reports to either a Project Engineer or Superintendent.

Location: ND, SD, NE, MT, WY, UT, CO

Responsibilities:

Project Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain a daily project diary, track project costs, production quantities, yield statistics, and onsite inventory. Compile cycle times and production information.
Data Management: Gather pay item quantities, collect information on extra work items, and manage/maintain department-specific technology and computer programs.
Billing & Reporting: Conduct timely billing and reporting to maximize profit margins and positive cash flow.
Scheduling & Coordination: Document schedule delays, perform schedule updates, assemble/distribute project plans and specifications updates, and coordinate efforts with management, project technicians, and customers.
Communication & Relationships: Foster dynamic project communication between Project Technicians, Management, Superintendents, and customers. Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and inspectors.
Job Controls & Profitability: Ensure proper job controls (quantities, costs, revenue, and schedule), provide accurate job reports, and assist the project in meeting or exceeding expected margins.
Technical Support: Sustain a comprehensive understanding of plans and specifications and understand documentation of pipeline sampling/testing results.
Administrative: Daily timecard entry and approval and other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in CM, CE, ME, EE Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of industrial construction projects.
• Strong computer skills, especially in Excel.
• Experience in the construction industry (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft products and scheduling software.
• Strong work ethic, ability to prioritize, and excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to work in both field and office settings in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability (subject to DMV background check).
• Team player.
