Job Description:
The Quantitative Systematic Trading Internship at Susquehanna offers a deep dive into the world of quantitative finance and systematic trading. As an intern, you’ll engage in projects mirroring the daily activities of full-time quantitative researchers and traders, contributing to real-world strategies.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Modelling: Employing probability theory, statistical analysis, and machine learning to model market behavior and create predictive “alphas” (trading signals).
• Execution: Developing strategies to execute trading ideas within simulated competitive environments, considering real-world constraints and market dynamics.
• Evaluation: Backtesting trading ideas using historical market data to assess their performance, identifying areas for improvement and refining strategies.
• Breadth: Gaining exposure to various aspects of quantitative research and trading, including different asset classes, trading styles, and areas of the firm’s business.
• Education: Participating in a comprehensive educational program designed to build a strong foundation in quantitative finance, with personalized mentorship from experienced professionals.
• Collaboration: Working within a collaborative environment, interacting with multiple teams to gain diverse perspectives and contribute to the overall trading process.
The internship focuses on developing practical skills in quantitative analysis, strategy development, and execution, providing a valuable learning experience that can lead to full-time career opportunities at Susquehanna. You will have the opportunity to build alphas on an actual trading strategy.
What We’re Looking For:
• Education: Masters (in penultimate or final year) in quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Economics
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning, and a passion for transforming data into actionable decisions.
• Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, particularly in a fast-paced and collaborative setting.
• Programming: Proficiency in Python for data processing and analysis; experience with C++ or another low-level language is a plus.
• Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated interest in strategic games and/or competitive activities, indicating an aptitude for strategic decision-making.
• Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, quick to learn, and able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Weekly Base Salary: $5700 for the ten-week program.
• Additional Benefits: Signing bonus, housing, breakfast and lunch, and other perks.
